Sankei TCR-S90
This boombox is from 1982. It's basically a Toshiba RT-S83 with different styling and a different name. In fact, this model was given several different names, like KenTech, Palladium, Kingspoint, and Blue Star. Each of them was given different colors and trim. But I think the Sankei and the Toshiba were the only ones with shiny chrome-look paint on the front panel.
It's very big, at 63cm wide and 32cm tall. The styling is very traditional, uncluttered, and masculine, with sharp edges and straight lines. I especially like the "acoustic lenses" over the tweeters. The plastic case is good quality, and the handle rotation is tightly controlled by nylon inserts preventing it from falling down loosely.
It has 6-inch, 3.2 ohm woofers and 2-inch, 4 ohm tweeters. The big LED meter indicates input levels. On each corner is a shoulder strap attachment point, consisting of a metal bar screwed into the case and secured with a circlip.
What's unique about this Sankei (and the Toshiba) is that it's one of the only boomboxes with 2 headphone ouputs. That's why there are two function switches, one for each headphone user. So you can play two different audio sources at the same time! (Note: The "MKII" version of the TCR-S90 does not have this feature).
